Joan Jett (born Joan Marie Larkin on September 22, 1958) (She is said to be born in 1960 by some sources) is an American rock and roll guitarist and singer.

Jett was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania|Philadelphia. She later moved to Hollywood, California.
She first gained attention as the guitarist, main songwriter and occasional singer in the pioneering all-women band The Runaways, known for pre-punk hard rock and the classic song "Cherry Bomb."
After the Runaways disbanded in 1980, she produced an album for Los Angeles, California|Los Angeles punk band, The Germs, then embarked on a solo career. Her hits included "I Love Rock N' Roll" and covers of Tommy James' "Crimson and Clover" and Gary Glitter's "Do You Wanna Touch Me", as well as "Bad Reputation", which was later used as the theme song for the cult TV show Freaks and Geeks.
She co-starred in the 1986 film Light of Day, and starred as Columbia in a Broadway revival of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
